Whitlingham Boathouses Foundation (No 1133063) is a new community sports charity in Norwich which is giving our young people the opportunity to realise their potential in rowing and canoeing.
The As One … Campaign is currently raising £1m to build a new community training and competition centre for both rowing and canoeing in Whitlingham Country Park. This will provide state of the art facilities for sports, leisure and fitness for people of all ages and abilities from across our community.

Congratulations to the six Norwich Rowing Club winning crews at Boston Head of the River on Sunday who battled against winds in excess of 40mph! Unfortunately, this meant that several of small boat crews and scullers were unable to race due to the blustery conditions kicking up white water along the straight 3km course.

Norwich Rowing Club is starting the new year with a bumper entry at the Boston Head of the River Race on Sunday.
Norwich crews will be racing in all 3 divisions (1000; 1215 and 1445hrs) with ages ranging from 4 boys and girls under 14 to 4 veterans over 60 entered in every boatsize from single sculls to eights.

Thank you for your tremedous support for Whitlingham Boathouses during the localgiving.com fund matching campaign - we have received a fantastic £3,626.94 over the past week!
This has been a huge boost to our funds and will go towards Phase 2 of the new community rowing and canoeing facility at Whitlingham, Norwich.

A very Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for 2012 from Whitlingham Boathouses Foundation.
We have made some very significant progress in 2011 including:
- Phase 1 completed and occupied June 2011
- New quay heading and river access completed June 2011
- First adaptive (disabled) rowing and canoeing facility in Norfolk
- Junior K4 and open canoes launched
- Outreach activities across the community
- Full Explore Rowing package arriving in early 2012
With the grant and other funding successes of the past few weeks, we hope to make a start on the infrastructure for Phase 2 early in the New Year.
Thank you for your support in 2011 and, with your continued support, we hope to make Phase 2 become a reality in 2012!

What a great day it was for the Carrow Cup Rowing Festival last Saturday - a crisp morning, flat water and clear blue skies all day! Organised by Norwich Rowing Club, we were treated to the sight of rowers ranging from aged 12 up to several in their seventies, racing over the traditional course from Pull's Ferry to the top of the New Cut (approx 4000m).

The historic Carrow Cup races will take place from Pull's Ferry to the top of the New Cut on Saturday 10 December.
Organised by Norwich Rowing Club, there will be 2 main divisions starting at 1000hrs and 1215hrs. In addition, a short course for younger and less experienced rowers will start from Carrow Bridge at 0945hrs.

Many congratulations to the team lead by Jo Fitzgerald who delivered a superb Auction of Promises last night. Over 110 lots were auctioned in just over an hour raising a fantastic £6,700 for Whitlingham Boathouses.
Added to this, ticket, raffle and bar sales brought the grand total to £8,000 raised for the boathouses project.
