The giveaway is in the title Human Resources.
Although we prefer to use the term "Effective with People".
Most businesses have employees but it is surprising how many don't know how to get the best from them.
The good news is we do, and we are really good at it.
We like to think of ourselves as HR angels working diligently in the background, taking away the people management issues so businesses can focus on making their business bigger & better.
Now that sounds like a winning combination !

What have crocodiles and komodo dragons got to do with success in the workplace?
Well, to be honest the object is not important but what is fascinating is people’s passion and drive to be successful.
There is an increasing attitude, by some, that the world owes them a living. Wrong! You and only you are responsible for your success. Be that turning a dream into a reality, being the best in your chosen profession, tackling that absence issue, going on that course or putting your neck above the parapet and going for that promotion.
What sometimes starts as a childhood interest for some people progresses into a career opportunity and sometimes even an obsession. Their interest grows and a thirst for learning and experience develops – the result – inspirational characters. In the World of wildlife and crocodiles such people are Steve Irwin, Austin Stevens and our very own UK Croc man, Shaun Foggett.
Shaun had a dream (a goal). He has a passion for crocs and tremendous self belief in himself, his family and his crocs!! Ruth my business partner and her croc obsessed son Zak have followed with interest his journey from keeping crocs in his back garden to the opening of the UKs first crocodile zoo. Has this been easy for Shaun – NO! Lesser beings would have given up and I have witnessed first hand his strong work ethic, determination to succeed and passion for what he does.
Would you sit on a crocs back? Would you go swimming with a komodo dragon in order to get that elusive photo? Bonkers but you have to respect the lengths people will go to in order to be the best.
Individuals like Shaun really do leave their mark and inspire youngsters to follow their dreams with the reality check of hard work! Zak and many other children and adults are inspired by Shaun. He understands how hard he works and that anything is possible if you work hard and put your mind to it. Who knows perhaps Zak will be a budding croc or Zoo Keeper as a result.
The learning to take away from this story is you don’t get anywhere in this life without having to put in some hard slog and have a real passion for what you do. Follow some simple steps and prepare for that meeting, finish that report and respect yourself enough to achieve your goal.
• Have a goal
• Set realistic objectives
• Highlight any training needs
• Review your progress
But most importantly …………
NEVER GIVE UP!
Bye for now
