ipatter is transforming the way businesses and organisations connect with each other and their customers. More succinct than traditional communication channels, like post or emails, and more tailored than social media platforms, ipatter simply gives organisations, a platform to broadcast their messages to a new audience, to see who is interested in what they have to say and directly message them. Individuals can easily keep up to date with Broadcasters they are interested in, all in one place!

A year in the life of the ipatter CEO - 22 Feb 2012
I had a bit of a late night last night and ended up going up the wooden hill at around midnight. It seemed I had just dropped off when the alarm went off, that can't be right, I thought, but according to my watch and phone it was 0500 and time to get up.
After a shower and shave it was down to the home office to catch up on some email and prepare for the recruitment day being run...

A year in the life of the ipatter CEO - 21 Feb 2012
Today was a real mixed bag for me on a personal level and it all started with a bit of a sleepless night of my own doing. I just refused to take my own advice and worried about a few things that I have no control over, which is a complete waste of time and energy, but I still lay there and worried about it - silly boy!
I was about to leave for the office when I noticed I'd missed a call...

Why is this entry so late, I hear you ask? The answer is quite simple. It's because when I got home after a long and challenging day, just to top it off my broadband had gone down and so I had to wait to write the blog entry!
The day started quite slowly for a change, now that doesn't happen that often I can tell you. I got to the office nice and early so I could get some...

A year in the life of the ipatter CEO - 18 Feb 2012
I woke today and felt like I hadn't slept at all. After what can only be classed as a slow start, I finally got motivated and by 08:45 was at the local football ground with my 'Tame Paratrooper', for my weekly session with him. Wow that was a tough one, I thought my heart was going to burst. It was only a 45 minute session but boy did I know I had worked. On my short jog home my...

A year in the life of the ipatter CEO - 17 Feb 2012
On reflection this has been a very difficult week for me and I know for Andy too. Sometimes life's like that. I had one of those very restless nights after the success of the networking event, as my thoughts turned to other pressing matters.
The thought foremost on my mind was our need to extend our reach and the recruitment of more Business Development Consultants both full and...

A year in the life of the ipatter CEO - 16 Feb 2012
Early start, but I've promised a member of the audience, at tonights launch event, that I won't mention going to the gym. The truth is today I didn't go to the gym, instead I had a breakfast meeting with Andy at 0730. So I replaced the workout with egg, bacon and beans and enough tea to sink a small coastal craft with a crew of four!
I've mentioned the work ethic and good character of Andy many times but you know his commitment, compassion and devotion to the development of ipatter has to be seen to be believed. One of life's genuine nice guys, how lucky am I to count him amongst my friends.
After the meeting it was off to the office to tie up all the admin and preparation for the event tonight. Once again, the back office boys did a great job in getting all the logistics sorted out, while I changed the slides and the script for the umpteenth time. At 1630 it was time to head off to the venue.
The fun started as soon as we arrived. I went to the front desk and noted that the event was being promoted as another networking organisation, when we asked for the room, we were told there was no booking for us. Even though I knew we were at the right place, just for an instant I questioned myself on our arrangements. All was well and we were soon in the room setting up. Ed looked a little shocked when I took my trousers off to change into my suit, who knows what went through his mind!
The event was well attended and the support we got from our local business community was fantastic. I'm confident some great connections were made. Not sure how many Red Bull's Nik had but he was on fire tonight! Emily told us she would take him for a walk before bed and that would settle him down.
It was a great evening, everyone involved made it a great success. Once home I even got pulled into a Facebook conversation about Ed and his braces. On a serious note he did a great job and I hope we can build on tonight and continue to give all those businesses some great value.
My tips for the day:
While networking is on our mind after tonight, I can't help but think the old adage "it's not what you know, it's who you know" is truer than ever in todays high pressure business life. The question is how do you know who to network with? Here are three types of network you might sometimes overlook:
Personal support - Form relationships with people who help you get back on track after a bad day. These may be friends or colleagues with whom you can just be yourself.
Purpose - Include in your network leaders and clients who can validate your work, and family members and stakeholders who remind you that your work has a broader meaning.
Work/Life balance - Seek out people who will hold you accountable for activities that improve your physical health, mental engagement, or spiritual well-being.

Up before day break again, usual routine and then off to the office, ready for the first meeting of the day. The first thing on the agenda for the day was to go through the slides of the Norfolk networking event tomorrow and make sure I'd covered all the bases in preparation for a rehearsal with the BDC and our networking mentor.
I finished just in time for a quick meeting with...

A year in the life of the ipatter CEO - 14 Feb 2012
Another 0530 start with a diary full of tasks and meetings to attend. After a quick catch up on email, it was off to the office to start the day proper. The first part of which was continuing the work on the design and content of the networking manual for the troops. Each time I read it, I think of more things to add, but I think I'm close to completing it now.
We had a full...

Up at 0530 today, despite wanting to stay in bed I forced myself to get up, shower and plan the next few days. I was on the road by 0630 and stopped off at the Gym on my way into the office. Quick legs, back and biceps workout and into the shower again before arriving at the office.
I got straight onto the procedure manual again and then the calls started. As the day continued the...
