This can especially be the case for owners/managers of SMEs or senior executives of large companies. It is very easy to spend hours or even days surfing the web on search engines such as Google or on social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or ipatter, looking for “ideas” on...

Use The Web To Get Rid of Preconceptions
Does your business suffer from preconceptions?
Are your potential customers active participants on the Web? Do they investigate their needs through searching for and visiting websites and use social media, such as Facebook, twitter and ipatter, to learn more.
If they see you using an iPhone3 will they say "You are so last century."?
And do they see you and your business...

Make the Web Get the Right Visitors to Your Business
You do not want to respond to 1000 enquiries from the Web a month, for 1 – 2% sales. You want to respond to 100 enquiries for 50% sales. Targeting can help you to achieve this.
A good start is stepping back and asking
- Who are my target clients?
- Which channel(s) do they use on the Web?
- How do we want to do business with them?
This will dictate the content of your website, your Facebook page, your tweets, your patters etc and how your target customers can be steered to the place where they can be converted into clients.
There is no absolute correct way. No two businesses are the same, even with the same product in the same town. One may be happy to sell the product on the Web; the other may want the Web to attract an enquiry, which is converted using human interaction. Or they may have the same product, but they do not want to sell to the same type of customers.
So know your target customer. Your digital strategy needs to be defined with a view to making these desired customers into visitors and, ultimately, converting them into your clients.
