A panel of judges at CAP, used car pricing experts, selected the Qashqai from a shortlist of six models. They judged the cars on affordability and practicality of ownership, trusted reputation, retail popularity and innovative impact on the motor industry.

The other cars that made the shortlist were the Citroen DS3, Vauxhall Zafira, Fiat 500, Ford Fiesta and Renault Clio.

CAP said that the Qashqai offers economy, handling, strong build quality and reliability to become the perfect used car, noting that this has been achieved without a premium brand badge.
