Visited a client the other day who had attempted to clean a wine spill from his carpet. Some bright spark told him to use a lot of Vanish and give it a good hard scrubbing, which he did using a stainless steel scouring pad! Needless to say, he managed to remove a 6" diameter circle of carpet pile and was still left with the wine stain on the carpet backing; not even we can restore a carpet once damage like this has been done. Here's a tip: if you spill anything on your carpet, just apply clean cold water to the area to dilute the liquid and blot thoroughly with plain white paper kitchen towel - then call Buchanans!
