Aviva Tackle Pension Exit Fees: Is it really an big issue?
Last month a policy document from the Labour Party talked about the 'Damaging' impact of exit fees from old pensions. Basically they say they had found that a large proportion of old pensions had huge fees for attempting to move your funds away. Far be it for me to disagree with a political party, but in my experience, noteworthy exit fees only occur in maybe 5-10% of cases. These also...

How to make sure you don't lose out on your pension...
The ever-dropping rate for annuities in the UK means that shopping around when you want to retire is more and more important.
Everybody has read in the press (and indeed on this site) about the drop in Annuities Rates over the past few years. Figures such as 40 percent being thrown around alongside all these stories and a further 20 percent over the next few years due to new legislation and...

Quantitative Easing: It seemed like a good idea at the timeā¦
Bank of England policymaker David Miles has this week been quoted as saying that Britain needs a “substantial” amount of further quantitative easing to jump-start it’s stalled economy, but what does that mean for the millions of everyday people who have put money aside into pensions as they were told to, who haven’t spent beyond their means with store cards and who are...

Why are our Pensions growing less than inflation at the moment?
Are we a pension company?
No.
Do we give pension advice?
No.
So why do I keep talking about Pension Reviews?
All this week the papers are going to be full of reports about ‘Annuity Rates’ being at an all time low. Basically what the press has noticed is, in 1990 if you were to retire at 65 with a £100,000 pension pot you could depend on...

Happy Wednesday, a three day week after a great weekend - still can't find any good pensions news though!
Did you all enjoy the Queens Diamond Jubilee? I think my highlight of the weekend definitely on the roof of Buckingham Palace with that amazing projection show on the side! Now whilst nobody has been able to put a figure on how much the festivities this weekend have cost or indeed who is actually paying for them, I think it's fair to say that it was well worth it for really...

Weekend Pension Press....
Anyone who has picked up a newspaper this weekend has most probably seen an article on Pension Performance and how people feel they are being 'Ripped Off' by the government... I'm sure many of you also didn’t read it and thought 'This isn’t for me.. I have plenty of time until I retire!' Well with the current rate of inflation at 4.2% although you may well...

Have you looked at your Pension Performance recently?
The most likely answer... Probably not! Many of us get those annual pension statements which show us the performance or lack thereof over the last year, we also just file them away. But did you know that by simply transferring that fund into a SIPP (Self Invested Personal Pension) you could invest in a product of your choice, even something that offers you a return of 8.46%... much better than the possible 1-2% you may be achieving now.
SIPPs were introduced a few years ago when the government needed to take action on the poor performance of personal pensions. A SIPP simply gives you, the person paying the money in, the control of where your fund is invested. Did you know that when you choose a pension provider they invest your fund into a product of their choice in order to create you a return? Wouldn't it be great to have control over where your money was invested and what return you received?
For more information on how and where to invest please visit our website (www.welcomeinvestments.co.uk) or wait for our next patter in which we will highlight just how easy it is to become your own fund manager and create your own returns.
