Insolvency doubts threaten an unhappy new year
Recent government figures showing an improvement in the number of corporate and personal insolvencies for the third quarter of 2010 are being greeted with caution by Matt Howard, East Anglia-based corporate recovery partner.
Matt doesn't want to be the purveyor of doom and gloom, but does fear that the figures for the final quarter of the year, on both the personal and corporate front, are likely to increase again.
Matt believes there could be problems for the construction sector locally and for the leisure and retail industry as we go into the traditionally difficult post-Christmas period. The accompanying loss of jobs or income is bound to force more into debt - particularly those who may have run up big bills on credit cards before Christmas and then find themselves unable to meet their debts in the new year.
Matt is urging people to seek good advice before it is too late. If you would like to contact him to discuss any issues you may have he can be contacted on matt.howard@uk.pkf.com or 01493 382547.
