Are your UPVC doors stiff to lock?
In these frugal times we all want to save money, but a big mistake made with upvc doors is when they start to get a bit stiff.
Most people recognise this as the start of a problem but think as long as the door locks, then the problem can't be too bad. But if the multi-point lock does not run as freely with the door closed as it does when the door is open, then there is too much stress being put on the internal mechanism.
There are usually a few adjustments that can be made to ensure everything is running freely. I would also mention the importance of oiling the working parts (especially near the coast) but we all do that anyway, don't we? LOL!
If you have a upvc door either at home or work, open it and lift the handles. Then do the same with the door closed. If this is harder to do then something is not sitting quite right. The bad news is if this continues and an internal part breaks, then new parts can cost anything from £60.00 upwards with an average of around £150.00 plus labour. The good news is most of the time, the problem can be dealt with before there is the need for new parts.
Hoping this problem will go away only makes it worse. The longer it is left, the harder it is to put right.
