Musculoskeletal Injuries at Work
Are back and neck pain, and the various repetitive strain injuries we develop as a result of office type work, due to our desk/work area arrangement ? Unlikely, and this is one of the reasons a lot of DSE assessments don't find the cause of the problem, nor do they necessarily prevent the problem returning. How our working environment affects us physically is not just down to our office...

Pain in The Office
The Office environment can be made to be beneficial. In Scandinavia standing desks are becoming increasingly popular as a way of relieving postural stress. These desks are not the answer but they can help. Many workers have said that they prefer to sit when trying to solve a difficult problem. In many ways it is not the office furniture that solves the problems of back and muscular pains in the...

Sitting Shortens Your Life
Its official sitting to xs will shorten your life, even if you exercise a lot. In an article published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, researcher Elin Ekblom-Bak found that “after four hours of sitting, the body starts to send harmful signals” that cause the genes regulating glucose and lipose levels in the body to shut down.
Ekblom-Bak E. Are we facing a new paradigm of inactivity physiology?. Brit J Sports Med 4th Feb 2010
You can bet that I am writing this piece standing up !
At the moment sitting at work is here to stay, although doing some research I found an employer in the USA supplies treadmills instead of office chairs (a Californian company no doubt)

Walking is excellent exercise but make sure you swing those arms for added exercising effect. Exercising does not have to take up a lot of your time. Cameron

Wow, I know it makes my back ache but didn't know it's actually detrimental to health generally. Inactivity is also bad for our dogs, regular consistent exercise is better than no exercise. Lets all get out and enjoy the weekend.
