We have all heard about cost per wear but do we really know what it means?
Here are the simple maths...Total cost of the item/ estimated number of times you’ll wear it = the cost per wear.
For example if you spend £150 on a great work blazer, wear it for about 100-150 per year over the next five years, it’ll cost you about 20p to 30p every time you wear it. The more you wear the blazer,the lower the cost per wear.
Look at it this way, the trendy top you bought for £10 at Primark, that you wear only three times before throwing it out, costs you around £3.33 everytime you wear it, making it almost ELEVEN times as expensive as the blazer.
Simple enough....... but investment pieces are about longevity and although £10 isn't much to part with, the chances are that a £10 piece of clothing isnt going to have the staying power of a slightly more expensive piece.
So what’s the moral of this story? Value, not low prices should be your focus when budget shopping. Remember a bargain is only a bargain if you actually wear it and it lasts long enough to be pulled out of your wardrobe again and again driving that cost per wear down.
